Too many barriers. An unsolved problem
In many urban and extra-urban contexts, public buildings and places of interest, there are still many barriers which make the mobility of wheelchair users extremely difficult - even for short-range movements.
Accessibility: a key factor in improving autonomy
The most recent technological innovations, incorporated into mobility aids - and wheelchairs in particular - allow the production of instruments enhancing wheelchair users’ autonomy and mobility. As a consequence, the possibilities of autonomous movement are enhanced and accessibility becomes a whole new concept.
The Kimap ecosystem
The Kimap digital ecosystem was born to answer to this increasing demand for information on accessibility. It is based on algorithms specifically developed for its functioning and composed of: an app, featuring a mapping system and an easy-to-use and multi-function navigator; an IoT device, which enhances the mapping quality thanks to its advanced technology; a community of users, sharing routes, troubles and obstacles related to the roads practicability. Therefore, the reliability of the shared information is guaranteed at its best by the community itself.,,
